Project Description

The Harrison Elementary School project consists of an addition and renovation to the existing structure. This project upgraded the building to meet the revised departmental standards which include additional power and technology, fire/safety code upgrades, additional lighting, site & traffic functionality revisions, update of educational program spaces, storage areas, ADA accessibility, temperature control & air conditioning and interior finishes. Harrison gained a 4,800 SF addition southwest of the gymnasium which allows for a new indentifiable main entry location. This addition also provides additional space for a library and additional teaching spaces. This new addition improves circulation within the facility by connecting existing corridors and eliminating dead-ends. The creation of a two-story addition to the north of the existing two story classroom wing allows for vertical circulation (including an elevator for ADA access to all levels) as well as space for exterior storage. Staff and students of Harrison were relocated to the former Druid Hill School during the construction project.
